About Greyton Art Walk
Greyton hosted its first Art Walk in already in 2017
Greyton is a small ‘ arty ’ town, fondly known as South Africa’s Little England . Travel and experience quiet oak-lined lanes, surrounded by mountains and rivers, restaurants/ coffee shops, gift shops, art galleries, Saturday-market and even horse rides.
Greyton owns much of its charm to our Cape Vernacular architectural heritage from the 1940’s and has remained largely intact. It is an extremely popular weekend and holiday destination for visitors who enjoy its combination of old-world charm and modern conveniences.
Greyton has become THE Art Town over the last few years. The art galleries and big art culture makes artists stay in Greyton for its artiness.
GREYTON ART WALK (GAW) started in 2017. The primary goal is not only to keep the art culture in Greyton but to provide a platform for ALL artists to exhibit their work.
GAW grow every year with an average of 50 artists exhibiting each year and we are also very proud of the sales of original art work every year. Our community driven project yearly is our Children’s Art. We donate art products to our schools, training and a children’s art exhibition with an average of 200 art works. Our first successful Autumn Art Walk (only galleries in CBD area), was held in March 2024 and 55 art pieces have been sold over the weekend. GAW 2024 is going to be the year of ‘excellence’! With this in mind we created our own website, again for our artists to promote themselves and also for online sales.
MERIDIAN is our NEW sponsor and their excellence bring a new vision to GAW, especially in our marketing area. With their help and skills we start this year with Artist video-clips in September 2024 to market GAW and the artists. A big thank you to Mr Christoff Coetzer from MERIDIAN for his initiative, vision and love for Greyton, as our sponsor.
To attract visitors GAW organizers already invited well-known artists like Richard Scott to exhibit at GAW 2024.
GAW – Explorio is our full colored booklet which will guide / direct you on a road map with yellow GAW-flags on the walkways to all the galleries, exhibition spaces and also profiles of exhibiting artists. Do you love art, meeting artists and seeing the creative ?

Greyton Town
South Africa’s “Little England”
Greyton is a tiny village affectionately regarded as South Africa's "Little England". Travel and explore peaceful oak-lined streets, restaurants, and gathering places to meet friendly inhabitants and tourists to the town.
Greyton owes much of its attractiveness to its tradition, which has mostly stayed intact. It is a favorite weekend and vacation destination for guests who appreciate its blend of old-world beauty and modern amenities.
Many of the town's historic structures and features have been preserved, including the ancient leiwater (irrigation) system of street furrows, the town kraal and dipping tank, a blacksmith's cottage and forge, and the school's boarding house.
The extensive public commonage may be seen by walking, hiking, or riding the pathways that encircle the town. There are also two historic churches and several of the first homes erected between 1854 and 1860 in Vigne Lane and at the end of Vlei Street.
There is also an ancient shepherd's cabin that was built before 1840 and is now part of "The Old Potter's Inn" on Greyton's Main Road.
Enjoy your stay to Greyton, which offers a more relaxed lifestyle and the opportunity to experience the village way of life, give way to horses, and enjoy the picturesque landscape.
